New Look Shamrocks... Q "Approved!"

by Tyson Leies

With lots of growth in the game of lacrosse over the years, Victoria and surrounding areas have seen an increase in registrations in minor lacrosse. How has this affected Senior lacrosse in the area? Well, simple... the Victoria Shamrocks are the pinnacle of lacrosse in Victoria and some say the flagship team in BC. There is also Junior A and Junior B Tier 1 in town, both flying the Shamrock banner. And now... the Victoria Sr. B Shamrocks, the fourth member of the family, operating it's 3rd season under the Shamrock name and emerging as one of the top 2 teams in the Province in the West Coast Senior Lacrosse League.

Now how do get "noticed" in a market already booming with support for everything Shamrock...? You keep improving on the floor, you climb in the standings, you get into the community and seek exposure! So here we are... fresh off an interview with Cliff LeQuesne on 100.3 the Q radio station, the Sr. B Shamrocks are showing off their "new" uni's... AND they are "Q Approved!" The traditional look of white with green and the round Shamrock logo dons their away jerseys. And for this season, the Sr. B's have broken from the traditional home green jerseys to the alternate... black jersey with their 2nd or alternate logo... the Leprechaun with Shamrock. Both jersey shoulders are built on a kelly green background with an array of Shamrock clovers. The uniforms are provided to the team by sponsor Uncommon Fit, run by former Victoria Jr. A Shamrock, Jamie Plunkett.

There is already a buzz surrounding the Sr. B Shamrocks and the new uniforms and merchandise is just part of it. Head Coach Tim Dennett is pleasantly surprised with the numbers and talent that was out for training camp and although the roster is not complete, there is an abundance of talent within the organization which makes the future of Senior lacrosse in Victoria very promising.
